AUDITION NOTICE: WAR OF THE WORLDS: Radio Play and Live Broadcast
Directed by Chad Taylor

Show date: October 20th, 2017

With It’s a Wonderful Life being a great success, The Reilly Arts Center and Insomniac Theatre Company have teamed up to bring WRAC back on the air after a long haitus and we are excited to once again present the infamous radio drama The War of The Worlds*!

The legendary show that caused a national panic in 1938 by Orson Welles and The Mercury Theater On The Air will be performed live onstage at The Reilly Arts Center! Join our cast of voice actors and live sound effects artists as they recreate one of the most famous radio plays of all time – just in time for Halloween!

All roles will be required to stand for long periods of time and must be able to switch vocal characteristics quickly and effectively. We will also be searching for two foley artists to create the live sound effects during the show.

Main Roles:

– PROFESSOR PIERSON/ORSON WELLES: male, Princeton professor of Astronomy.
– SEVERAL NEWS ANNOUNCERS
– CARL PHILLIPS: male, similar to the radio reporter who witnessed the Hindenburg tragedy
– STRANGER: male, paranoid deserter
– SECRETARY OF THE INTERIOR: male
– WILMUTH: male, farmer
– VARIOUS MILITARY OFFICERS & CITIZENS

We will also be performing several original commercials throughout the show which will require actors of all types.
